Scalp comfort & colour safety

Questions about reactions, pregnancy and product claims to raise before a cosmetic service.

10 questions · Menu details and practical consultation notes

Prices follow the confirmed menu. Unspecified steps or fees are marked for confirmation. General care and safety information does not replace a hair assessment or medical advice.

01Does ammonia-free mean allergy-free?

No. Ammonia-free does not mean free of all potential allergens. Disclose previous dye reactions and follow the actual product’s instructions. A comfort add-on is not a medical allergy-prevention treatment.

02Can I dye my hair during pregnancy?

NHS information says most research finds hair colouring in pregnancy safe. That is not a product-specific guarantee. Discuss your circumstances with your maternity clinician; tell the salon about pregnancy and reactions before selecting any dye.

03What should I ask before colouring while breastfeeding?

Tell the salon that you are breastfeeding and ask your healthcare professional about your situation if concerned. Bring any history of reactions and ask to identify the exact product. The menu does not certify any colour as universally safe for breastfeeding clients.

04I reacted to dye before. Can I just change brands?

Do not assume a brand change avoids the responsible ingredient. Seek medical advice about a previous reaction and tell the salon before booking. Do not continue with a product that triggers symptoms.

05What is the difference between an allergy alert test and a strand assessment?

No. A product’s allergy-alert procedure concerns skin response; a strand assessment examines a hair result and condition. Follow the specific product instructions and professional advice. Neither should be described as an absolute guarantee against every reaction or problem.

06Can I colour with an itchy, sore or broken scalp?

Do not treat scalp symptoms as something a more expensive dye will fix. Delay the service and seek appropriate medical advice for active or persistent symptoms. Show the stylist the condition before any product is applied.

07What should I do if a colour service burns or causes swelling?

Tell the stylist and stop the exposure; do not wait for the colour to finish. Seek medical help for a reaction, especially if it worsens. Breathing difficulty or mouth/throat swelling requires urgent emergency help.

08Is scalp protection or scalp comfort care a medical treatment?

No. They are salon-care descriptions, not diagnoses or treatment for dermatitis, allergy or hair loss. Ask what product is used and do not substitute a salon add-on for medical advice when symptoms are present.

09How can I check a smoothing-product safety claim?

Ask for the product name, directions and available ingredient or safety information. Do not rely only on “organic”, “protein”, “no smell” or a salon nickname. FDA guidance encourages questions about formaldehyde-related ingredients; this is not a claim about a verified 3AM formula.

10Can a salon treatment cure hair loss or scalp disease?

The services in this menu are cosmetic, not medical treatment. Discuss unexplained hair loss or scalp disease with a clinician. A salon can help plan a suitable appearance after assessment, but should not promise regrowth or a cure.

External references explain general concepts; they do not imply that 3AM uses every product from those brands or is endorsed by those organisations. Confirm the salon service, scope and total before proceeding.
